Fans will enjoy Austin's best food at Dell Technologies Match Play
Fan Village to feature Austin favorites
Austin, Texas – The 2016 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play showed fans on-site and through the telecast that the tournament was not only a showcase of the top 64 golfers in the world but also a showcase of one of the greatest cities in the world by embracing many elements of what makes the Austin community special. Tournament organizers announce that the 2017 Dell Technologies Match Play will again provide fans with some of Austin’s best food options March 22-26 at Austin Country Club.
Once on-site, fans should flock to the Fan Village, located to the players’ right of the 16th fairway, where they can choose among returnees Hat Creek Burger Company, Micklethwait Craft Meats, Torchy’s Tacos and Amy’s Ice Creams, as well as newcomer Mighty Cone, for a true taste of Austin’s best cuisine. While at the Fan Village, fans can watch the television broadcast, use their phones and experience golf in new ways through virtual reality, 3D projections and a 360 photobooth.
New this year, Mighty Cone (http://www.mightycone.com/) brings their unique and delicious “cone” servings to Austin Country Club. With a variety of options ranging from the Chicken and Avocado Cone, the Shrimp Cone, the Hot and Crunchy Cone, and the Monster Cone, Mighty Cone will quickly join the other restaurant options as another fan favorite at the Dell Technologies Match Play.

But it wouldn’t be a golf tournament in Austin without a barbecue option. Micklethwait Craft Meats (www.craftmeatsaustin.com) will fill that void with its all-homemade, Central Texas barbecue and New York Style Delicatessen. Micklethwait Craft Meats was founded by owner, Tom Micklethwait, who, on a cold winter's day in December 2012, smoked and served his first barbecue plate “all by his lonesome,” from the window of the vintage Comet trailer on Rosewood Avenue. Micklethwait Craft Meats (Craft Meats) is the result of the hard work and dedication of Tom and a group of loyal friends who met while working in a fine dining restaurant on South Congress. Together, with their love of food, dedication to integrity, excellence and good humor, Craft Meats and Craft Deli strive to provide great food and friendly service in a welcoming atmosphere.

For the taco enthusiasts, Torchy’s Tacos (www.torchystacos.com) offers a variety of their unique concoctions folded in a flour tortilla. Today Torchy's Tacos operate over 40 stores and a trailer park. They've won a bunch of cool awards and had write-ups and videos spread across the nation, and that passion can still be found in the food at any Torchy's.

The Hat Creek Burger Company (www.hatcreekburgers.com) dream became reality in 2008 behind an Austin bar in a food trailer. The team’s desire to serve mouthwatering perfection and never cut corners quickly set them out from the crowd. Fresh, never frozen, all natural beef served on freshly baked buns with fresh veggies and homemade fermented cucumbers (calling them pickles just wouldn’t do justice!).

Finally, Amy's Ice Creams (www.amysicecreams.com), home of the world famous Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream, will provide that sweet sensation for fans with a selection of handcrafted artisan super premium ice creams, dairy free fruit ice, and milkshakes.

“We were blown away by the community support and excitement we received in the first year of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play,” said Dell Technologies Match Play Tournament Director Jordan Uppleger. “Much like 2016, fans who come to Austin Country Club will not only have an unprecedented access and viewing experiences of the best players in the world, but they will enjoy some incredible hospitality, food, drinks and treatment while away from the competition as well.”
The Dell Technologies Match Play has generated more than $16 million for charity since its inception, part of the more than $54 million raised for global charities since the advent of the World Golf Championships in 1999.
