Top 64 in the world secure qualification for 2018 event

AUSTIN, Texas – The top 64 players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as of Monday, March 12, are now officially qualified for the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, which returns March 21-25 to Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. The tournament also announced that Phil Mickelson, who collected his 43rd career PGA TOUR victory with a playoff win at the WGC-Mexico Championship in his last start, has committed to this year’s event. The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play features the game’s biggest stars from around the globe in the only head-to-head, match-play format event on the PGA TOUR schedule.

Players have until 5 p.m. ET on Friday, March 16, to commit to the field. Players who do not commit by the deadline will be replaced by Nos. 65, 66, etc., in the OWGR until the field of 64 is filled.

Shubhankar Sharma was the only player that moved into the top 64 in the world rankings this weekend after finishing T7 at the Hero Indian Open. Charles Howell III fell out of the top 64, dropping to No. 66 after finishing T40 at the Valspar Championship.

The top four in the OWGR lead the way, including defending champion and world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, defending FedExCup champion and No. 2-ranked Justin Thomas, 2017 Dell Technologies Match Play runner-up Jon Rahm (No. 3) and former Longhorn Jordan Spieth (No. 4).

Additionally, the tournament announced once again military tickets will be available at Camp Mabry, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Hood and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. For Camp Mabry, please visit the Texas Military Department State Family Programs Office located at the Soldier and Airman Support Center, Building 34, Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas. Pick up at Fort Sam Houston will be located at Lackland, Randolph and Fort Sam Houston ITT Ticket offices. For Fort Hood, please visit the USO Admin Office located at Building 44, 50th Street, Fort Hood, Texas.

Parking will be complimentary for military members at Camp Mabry Wednesday through Sunday March 21-25, 2018. Military members must show their ticket plus a US issued ID to gain access to the free parking/shuttle at Camp Mabry.

The 2018 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, the third of four World Golf Championships events during the 2017-18 season, has a limited number of tickets remaining. Tickets can be purchased at DellTechnologiesMatchPlay.com or by calling 844-868-7465. Tickets available include weekly grounds badges that grant access to the Austin Country Club grounds and all public venues, fan activations and bleachers. Additionally, ULTRA Club badges are available. The ULTRA Club, which is located on the 12th fairway, offers an enhanced venue to follow the action, with several televisions located throughout and open seating for guests to sit and mingle in a relaxed sports bar setting.

Those who purchased tickets are reminded that youth 18 and under will be admitted free all week when accompanied by a ticketed adult (one free youth ticket per each adult ticket will be available). This free ticket only applies for grounds tickets and not upgraded hospitality options.

The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play is one of the most elite and exciting tournaments on golf’s calendar as one in a series of four World Golf Championships events sanctioned and organized by the operational committee of the International Federation of PGA Tours, which includes the Asian Tour, European Tour, Japan Golf Tour, PGA TOUR, PGA Tour of Australasia and Sunshine Tour. The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play field annually consists of the very best players from around the world from all Tours and traditionally features nearly all of the top 64 in the world.

Since its inception, the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play has generated more than $17 million for charity with the tournament announcing in early October that the 2017 edition raised over $1.1 million for five Austin-based charities. In two years in Austin, the tournament has raised more than $2.1 million for charity.
