UT Health Austin named the Preferred First Aid Provider of the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play

AUSTIN, Texas – Tournament officials today announced UT Health Austin as the Preferred FirstAid Provider of the 2023 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, returning to Austin Country Club, March 22-26.

“UT Health Austin is not only a leading health system in the region, but is an innovative leader and trusted member of the Austin community,” said Vice President and Executive Director Uppleger. “We are thrilled to announce this partnership as we continue to work towards delivering an exceptional experience for fans at the 2023 Dell Technologies Match Play for everyone onsite, while also delivering tremendous safety and support to our players, partners and fans.”

As the preferred first aid provider, UT Health Austin will provide on-site physicians and medical support teams to deliver care to spectators, volunteers, staff, players and caddies throughout the week. Additionally, first aid tents can be found at various locations throughout the golf course where fans can access medical supplies such as bandaids, gauze, sunscreen and other various essentials.

“We are excited to be part of the WCG-Dell Technologies Match Play as preferred medical providers again,” said Mica Guzman, MD, Primary Care Clinical Director, UT Health Austin Sports and Injury Clinic. “We want to model the same care and attention to the patrons and participants of this event as we would have provided in our Musculoskeletal Institute clinic. I am thankful to Austin Country Club for this opportunity in community engagement, and thankful to the community for trusting their care to us. Should there be anything that requires further medical attention beyond the first aid station we are set for coordination with Emergency Medical Services on site. Similarly to their model of the Musculoskeletal Institute at UT Health Austin, UTHA will be providing an interdisciplinary team for medical coverage at the aid stations that consists of non-surgical and surgical sports medicine doctors, various associate providers including doctor of chiropractor, orthopedic nurse practitioners, physician assistant, doctor of physical therapy, nurses, assistant physical therapist, medical assistants, and medical students from The Dell Medical School at Austin, certified athletic trainers and athletic trainer students.
